Quenched and Tempered Steel Pipes (Q&T ) represent advanced heat-treated steel tubes that undergo precise "quenching + high-temperature tempering" processes. These special heat-treated tubes are engineered to achieve optimal balance between strength and toughness through the formation of tempered sorbite microstructure, making them ideal for heavy-load and high-pressure applications in demanding working conditions.

The manufacturing process begins with quenching treatment where tubes are heated to precise temperatures (860-870°C for 20MnTiB material) followed by rapid cooling through multi-stage water spraying systems. This initial phase transforms the internal structure to martensite, significantly enhancing strength and hardness. Subsequent high-temperature tempering using medium-frequency induction heating eliminates residual stresses from quenching while reducing brittleness, ultimately forming uniform tempered sorbite structure. The final precision finishing phase includes straightening, non-destructive testing, hardness verification, tensile testing, and ultrasonic inspection to ensure dimensional accuracy and performance compliance.

 

These Q&T condition steel pipes demonstrate exceptional mechanical properties with tensile strength ≥1050MPa, yield strength ≥930MPa, and room temperature impact energy ≥55J for 20MnTiB material grades. The enhanced mechanical characteristics provide reliable performance under heavy loading conditions while maintaining superior impact resistance. Excellent dimensional accuracy with roundness error ≤0.01mm and straightness within 0.1mm/m minimizes assembly stresses and ensures compatibility with precision component requirements.

 

The superior stability of Quenched and Tempered Steel Pipes results from eliminated internal stress concentrations, providing 2-3 times longer fatigue life compared to conventional steel tubes. The improved wear resistance and reduced surface roughness further minimize friction losses during operation, extending service life for sealing components and other matching parts.

 

These high-strength quenched tubes serve critical applications in mechanical manufacturing as automotive rear axle shafts, machine tool gears, and drive shafts. In engineering machinery, they perform reliably as hydraulic cylinder components for excavators and other high-pressure hydraulic applications. The energy and heavy industry sectors utilize these pressure-resistant tempered pipes for shale gas extraction manifolds, wind turbine towers, and with special materials, even nuclear power main pipelines requiring extreme corrosion resistance and collapse performance.
